Foundation of exhibition hall of Chinese opera
National Taiwan College of Performing Arts is the only 12-year Chinese opera school in Taiwan. In the school, Chinese opera related cultural and historical relics and historic materials are preserved with rich education and research values. They witnessed the history of modern Chinese opera education in Taiwan. Since traditional opera has been developed in Taiwan for certain period of time, the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts intended to implement exhibition hall collection and digital collection of Peking opera associated cultural and historical relics. First, it collected Peking opera costumes, clothing, stage properties and facial makeup and subsequently managed Chinese opera old photos, stage photos, performance recording, lists of plays and musical notes. Thus, foundation of Chinese opera exhibition hall aims to introduce more information for the public who are interested in traditional opera.

Foundation of Performing Arts Center to promote art education
During this visit, we arrived in Zhongzheng Hall of National Taiwan College of Performing Arts and the place of performance was called BI-HU Theater which was spacious and well equipped. Thus, we took plenty of pictures. The college was devoted to development of campus art education and promotion of art knowledge and competency. Performing Arts Center was founded to cultivate students’ humanistic literacy and allowed the students to perform traditional opera, acrobatics and music; the public who were interested in art activities could participate in to experience the aesthetics of traditional art. Thus, it fulfills the mission to promote art education.

Expansion of performance facilities and exhibition space with multiple functions
Auditorium is on the first floor of Zhongzheng Hall and there are 308 seats serving for performance of internship in school and renting for users out of the school. Exhibition room of Chinese opera cultural and historical relics is on the second floor which mainly exhibits Peking opera literatures and important cultural and historical relics such as Peking opera stages, costumes, boots, stage properties, helmets and hair accessories. At present, in two-floor building of Zhongzheng Hall, there are performance hall, exhibition room, control room, special exhibition zone and collection and school history room. It includes various cultural and historical relics and is served for performance, instruction, exhibition, study, consultation, research, collection and education.

Inheritance of Chinese opera culture and devotion
After the visit in the afternoon, we approached the culture of traditional opera and it was an intellectual and artistic trip. During the visit, the director and teacher mentioned the current operational obstacle of the college and the reduction of audiences. The reason was in that the progress of time resulted in the variety of entertainment, such as concerts, computer and cell phone games, movies and TV series. Thus, there were less young audiences. The objective and important issue of the college is to attract young generation. Although the visit was short, we recognized the college’s devotion to traditional opera. In addition, in the exhibition hall where various cultural and historical relics are exhibited, we were touched by traveling with time. The cultural and historical relics quietly show the irreplaceable traditional art culture and memory. We can approach them to learn the significance.
