According to the interview and research findings of the questionnaires, traditional Chinese opera is declining. It is no longer the mainstream recreation for the public. Thus, the troupes’ performances become rarer. In addition, there is the challenge to pass on the art of traditional Chinese opera. Less people work in the industry and old actors are aged gradually and the skills cannot be continued. Actors encounter the difficulty to make a living and it lacks the talents and innovation of scripts. Thus, traditional Chinese opera cannot be as vigorous as before. Besides, we realize that the public do not dislike or stereotype traditional Chinese opera. Most of them are curious and they simply do not frequently approach traditional Chinese opera.

Thus, we suggest that the government should increase the funds and related resources, such as the instruction in the colleges of traditional Chinese opera, establishment of performance halls, reinforcement of stage equipment, funds to enhance the performances of the troupes and promotion on electronic media. With the efforts of the government and the troupes, we expect that the traditional Chinese opera will become popular again. Finally, we should applaud the actors on the stages. Their remarkable performances are based on the daily training with sweat and tears. One minute on the stage requires ten years of practice off stage. They intend to pass on traditional Chinese opera and be recognized by the audiences. With their efforts and the public’s support, we wish that the beauty of traditional Chinese opera will last forever.
